End of the Semester

The end of the semester is getting close. Only a couple finals left.

It's been a good semester and I've learned so much about using technology in the classroom. By far, my favorite project was creating the interactive powerpoint. I feel like I spent a lot more time than necessary to complete it, but I really got into it and wanted to have the full lesson. I ended up having 20 slides, but probably could have met all the requirements with way less. I wanted to attach it so you could check it out, but I can't seem to figure that out.

I just have one last assignment to finish, the E-portfolio. I will be putting all my completed projects into a website. Go to

Class Update

Since my last blog I have worked with using more technology that I will be able to use in the classroom. I am now familiar with a program called Kidspiration and using spreadsheets in Google docs. Kidspiration has many useful tools in it to organize and make lessons. They had many tools specifically for math lessons that I could definitely see myself using in the classroom. Google doc spreadsheets are a useful tool in the classroom and were very easy to work with thanks to my experience with Microsoft excel. Our assignment was to use the spreadsheet as a grade book, but it also has many other uses especially math related. You can build graphs right into the spreadsheet and assign the spreadsheet to execute formulas for you.

In my class there are a lot of tools coming up that I have never heard of, so I am looking forward to what I can learn and use when I am a teacher.

1st post for EDCI 232!

Hi, I'm Cameron again. I am a middle grades education major and that is why I am enrolled in this class. I was unfamiliar with all these new resources and I am excited to learn how to use all this technology in the classroom. I was really worried about this class at first, but I feel like I am starting to settle in.

So far we have used two programs new to me: Symbaloo and Glogster. Both of these can be very useful as a teacher and can be very helpful in making lessons and resources for your students. Glogster is an interactive poster and it was very user friendly. On there it would be very easy to teach lessons interactively that would engage and challenge students. Now I am in the process of making my first blog and setting up a twitter account, both which I have never done before. I am looking forward to what other new things I will learn to use this semester.
